11" x 14" Oil
on canvas by Robert Edison, 1986
for The History Company
Robert passed away of complications from Diabetes shortly after
completing this portrait.
We planned to do one of Ed Ricketts in the same age-range and artist
style to complete a set.
But what we do have is an incomparable vision of John Steinbeck as
an adventurous young writer,
done from numerous photographs of John at various times in his life.
The interpretation speaks for itself.
I am forever grateful for Robert's help in design and production of
my history of Cannery Row.
He was a real gentle man and a wonderful artist and friend.
We are introducing this portrait reproduction to the Steinbeck World
at the
National Steinbeck Center “Steinbeck Festival”
